Broadband Internet Connection Over Existing Power Line!
Saturday 31 May 2008 @ 5:15 am

This is the most exciting concept in broadband computer access since the onset of online computerization. Just think….to be able to plug in your computer in any existing electrical outlet in your home, office or even campground and have immediate connection to the net!

As in any new concept there are going to be pros and cons but in this case the pros far outweigh the cons which you will see as we discuss what is going on in this exciting field of communication.

• #1 You can plug your computer into any existing outlet anywhere you go as each outlet becomes a broadband outlet and you can access the net quickly and efficiently.

• #2 The power grid is already in place all over the world…no new satellite connections nor dial up procedures. No more waiting to have cable installed in your area.

• #3 BPL (Broadband over Power Lines) will be cost effective - running approximately $29.00 -$39.00 per month in comparison to the $49.00-$69.00 per month to access the internet with other provider methods.

This exciting new breakthrough technology is presently being tested in several cities across the US….in fact the Trump Place in New York City has hired Telkonet, a company that provides internet access via electrical wiring to provide its residents with internet access that’s as easy as plugging in their a toaster! This technology can enable an entire building to access the net by way of existing electrical outlets without having to install new wiring. BPL feeds a low-power radio signal over power lines. A BPL modem plugs into a regular low electric outlet, receives the radio signals from power lines and converts them into a digital internet connection.

There are several cities in the US now with complete citywide deployment of BPL, one of which is Manassas, VA. Currently, there are no fewer than 40 BPL deployments across the country in various stages of development in various stages of trials and commercial service. There are 50 utilities across the country looking into it. Google stated that this would help promote better access to the internet.

The biggest drawback to this technology has been an interference problem with ham/amateur radio operations. Ham radio operators fear this interference can threaten communication service in times of emergencies such as Katrina where they are providing information from their vehicles. Technology is working hard to overcome these difficulties.

As a matter of fact, NewsMax reports that now, with the second generation of hardware and software, the interference problem has been greatly mitigated. Furthermore, the FCC requires BPL providers to employ devices that can switch frequencies if they cause interference and that they can be shut down remotely. FCC commissioners also will be requiring a national database of BP installations for public safety agencies, amateur radio operators and others.

I personally find this exciting and am looking forward to the convenience of taking advantage of this technology! As we live in an age where we have this information available to us at our fingertips, following the progress of BPL and learning when they will make this available in our respective areas will be a fun challenge.

Homeowner Loans: A 3D View of Ownership!
Saturday 31 May 2008 @ 2:26 am

Did you ever imagine that your home can prove to be much more than a mere shelter? Something more than just a roof over your head? Well, once you enter the loan world, you sure cannot overlook the value of the asset you own. If you are a homeowner, you have a horizon of opportunities where taking a homeowner loan is considered. A homeowner loan is backed by your home, i.e. it is a secured loan and is so called because you put up your home as collateral or security for the lender, against the amount borrowed. Homeowner loans are straightforward and are available to every homeowner irrespective of your credit history. The money availed through homeowner loans can fund innumerable financial needs and can provide opportunities galore if used well.

Homeowner loans can be modified as per your financial standing. The main attraction of these loans is the low interest rate offered on it. Since your home is a security for the lender, you, as the borrower benefit too by having lower interest rates and flexible repayment options to deal with. The latest report on homeowner loans reveals an interest rate as low as 5.1%. However, in this rather smooth sailing journey, there is one road block: in case you default in your monthly payments, your home or property is liable to confiscation by your creditor. Your creditor holds the claim on your home until complete repayment.

Another reason for a taking a homeowner loan would be if you had poor credit history. Lenders look more favourably on people who are homeowners as this exhibits a commitment to repay a large amount of money over a longer period. Homeowner loans could take longer to process because they necessitate valuation of collateral. Homeowner loans like any other secured loan permit loan amounts of £5,000 to £75,000 with repayment terms of 5 to25 years.

There is a general tendency for the equity in your home to rise owing to home improvements and other developments made by you. Sometimes you do not play a part in this at all because real estate soars due to any attraction in the vicinity like a mall or development of infrastructure. All this aesthetically adds to the value of your home. Homeowner loans take advantage of the equity in your home and hence are commonly known as Home Equity Loans as well.

Lenders are very cautious about the amount they lend. Their priority is value of collateral and prompt recovery of the loan. Creditors prefer granting amounts less than or equal to the market value of your collateral. A borrower with exceptional credit history can expect amounts up to 125% of the collateral, while someone with a turbulent standing may get about 60% of it. There is more scope to borrow larger amounts as long as you satisfy the lender of your ability to repay the loan.

A few benefits of Homeowner Loans:

•Home owner loans are of immense help to people who prefer not to sell their home, but need resources to meet over some contingency.

•People with poor credit histories: C.C.J’s, defaults, arrears, etc. can get good deals as long as they have collateral i.e. a home. Thus, good credit scores are not a must.

•Home Owner Loans offer low interest rates and easy repayment options.

•The loaned amount can be used for any purpose as per the borrower’s requirement.

•Homeowner loans are ideal for those who find it difficult to get loans from their local bank and for those who do not wish to sell their home when in need of resources to meet over some contingency.

Some lenders apply a charge to home secured loans if they are paid off before the due date. This is called a redemption penalty and can be up to two months interest - a significant additional cost. If you consider repaying your loan earlier than agreed, then it may be wise to take home secured loans that do not have a redemption penalty, even if you pay a slightly higher APR.

Comparing interest rates offered on homeowner loans from different lenders gives you a good idea of how competitive they are and familiarizes you with interest rates. It is imperative to ascertain that you can meet the repayments before signing the credit agreement. However, attractive it gets, “Look before you leap!”

Human Stomach - The Basics
Saturday 31 May 2008 @ 1:00 am

The stomach is an organ located in the alimentary canal. Its job is often confused with that of the intestine. Our stomach is not responsible for absorbing nutrients from digested food like the intestine is. Its primary function is to quite simply digest whatever it is that we decide to eat.

Located between the esophagus and the first part of the small intestine, the stomach is a highly acidic environment containing many digestive enzymes. The interior of the stomach is able to secrete about 2 to 3 litres of gastric fluid every day. It is a large organ that is multichambered, and hosts bacteria which produce the necessary enzymes for the digestion of cellulose from plant matter. The stomach will regurgitate and rechew plant matter at least once during the digestion process of sequentially passing food through the stomach’s chambers.

Stomach’s are divided into five sections, each of which having different functions and cells. Gastric juice in the stomach keeps a pH level anywhere between 1 and 3. The pH scale is a way of determining how acidic a substance is. The larger the pH level, the less acidic a substance is. Sometimes the highly acidic gastric juice eats away at the stomach wall or its layer of mucus, causing what is called an “ulcer”.

Common diseases that occur in the stomach are a Curling ulcer, Cushing ulcer, Stomach cancer, Gastritis, Linitis plastica, Peptic ulcer, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, Cardia, Gastric acid, Gastric distention, Monogastric, Nasogastric tube, Peptic ulcer, Stomach ache, Stomach cancer, and Borborygmi. “Gastric-” or “Gastro-” are latin names for the stomach, which are commonly used in any medical term concerning this organ.

What Cross-cultural Training Can Do for You
Thursday 29 May 2008 @ 3:36 am

International business is more complex than ever before. Success in every sector is now seen in global terms. Yet success in working with colleagues from different cultures is no easy goal. In order to connect, we have to communicate effectively and we can only do this in an atmosphere of mutual respect, understanding and trust. Cross-cultural training helps you understand the underlying cultural values that drive behaviouryou first understand your own cultural background and then other people’s.

Its outcomes should be first to take the confusion out of cross-cultural encounters. For example, you arrive in Madrid for a business meeting. In your own working environment appointments are made and only changed in exceptional circumstances, and usually with plenty of notice. But when you arrive at your hotel in advance of the next day’s meeting you find a note telling you the appointment has been rescheduled. From your perspective this is tantamount to an insult. You feel angry, frustrated, perhaps puzzled. But that’s because you come from a typically ‘monochronic’ background. Spain is much more ‘polychronic’ and, while you are very time- conscious, punctual, schedule-orientated, many Spanish are easy-going about time, appointments and timetables. It’s not an insult, simply a manifestation of a more relaxed view of these matters.
If you had understood this before doing business in Spain you would not have been thrown by this sudden change in the schedule.

As well as helping you to understand the differences in other people’s behaviour and attitudes, it helps you to overcome perceived barriers. In the situation above, you could arrive at the postponed meeting in a hostile and unreceptive frame of mind. Your business meeting could already be jeopardized by your sense of having been insulted. But if you understand the different behaviour in relation to a different culture’s values, you can simply enjoy the additional free time in Madrid and arrive at the meeting ready to thank your counterparts for the unexpected opportunity to do some sightseeing. No hostility, no barriers.

A further benefit of cross-cultural awareness is that it helps you to become more objective. When cross-cultural issues are unresolved, you risk taking the situation personally, as in the example above. But when you understand that different behaviour patterns are entirely normal in another environment, you can stand back and analyse the situation more effectively. Let’s say you have been negotiating with Chinese counterparts and feel ready to close the deal. At the end of the meeting, the Chinese thank you for your contribution but say they will now go away to consider the agreement. If you don’t understand the collectivist nature of the Chinese decision-making process, you could come away feeling that the negotiation had failed, you may take this as a personal failure. But if you understand the group-orientation of your Chinese counterparts, you will be able judge the negotiation in a clearer light. You will even be able to offer additional input by expressing your willingness to supply further information to the group if they need it.

Team-cohesion is another area that benefits from cross-cultural understanding. Obviously it will be pointless if you as an individual understand these nuances but the rest of your team does not. When you return from a mission such as that described above, they too will think the negotiation has failed unless they understand the issues. As a team you will be able to develop more coherent and effective strategies if you all know what is involved in doing business across cultures.

Cross-cultural training will help you improve your communications skills. You will learn how to listen with real understanding. That means listening with your eyes and your mind as well as with your ears. Let’s say you, a man, invite a female secretary from the office for a coffee after work so that you can get to know each other in a more relaxed atmosphere. She looks down at the floor, thanks you and says she’ll come. You wait in the café but she doesn’t turn up. If you had been listening properly this should be no surprise. She didn’t look you in the eye and you ought to know that in her culture it is not usual for a woman to meet a man who is not her husband, father or brother alone but, at the same time, she would have found it impossible to openly refuse an invitation from her boss. As you learn to listen and understand you will develop the communication skills you need to deal sensitively but effectively with your international colleagues.

Cross-cultural training helps you understand how to prepare the ground for mutual understanding by helping you win the trust of those you work with. When people can see that you are sensitive to their beliefs and traditions and respect them, they will be more willing to look at new ways of doing things and finding mutually acceptable solutions.

Bollinger Bands Tips
Thursday 29 May 2008 @ 2:31 am

Bollinger bands are an integral part of just about every charting system I have ever seen but many traders are unfamiliar with how to use them. In this lesson we will cover the basics of Bollinger bands and one particular technique which I have found to be very reliable.

Bollinger Bands were invented by John Bollinger as a means of determining what could be considered as high or low around a give price.

The bands are plotted at a standard deviation (statistical term for measuring volatility) around a moving average. Typically the standard deviation used is 2.

The bands appear on charts as 3 bands.

A simple moving average in the middle. Most charting software defaults to a 20 period moving average.

An upper band calculated around a simple moving average plus 2 standard deviations.

A lower band calculated around a simple moving average minus 2 standard deviations.

For our examples we will use the most common setting of a 20 period simple moving average. This will give us 3 bands, the middle band of a 20 period simple moving average and the upper and lower bands calculated around the middle band with standard deviation of 2. The closing price is most commonly used to calculate the moving average.

Bollinger bands can be used to generate buy and sell signals but that is not their primary use. The main purpose of the bands are to:

To identify areas of high and low volatility.

To identify periods when prices are at an extreme and possibly ready for a reversal.

To identify a trending market.

The Squeeze:
The squeeze (tightening) is a period of low volatility and often happens before a big move. It can also help identify potential breakout areas.

Reversal:
In conjunction with other indicators you can identify potential reversal points.

Trending Following:

Although Bollinger bands will not tell you when the trend has started if you combine it with certain indicators they will confirm the trend. It is also easily identifiable visually.

As I mentioned earlier Bollinger bands are not really meant to be used as a signal generating indicator but in conjunction with another indictors can be very useful.

I like to use Bollinger bands and RSI together to generate possible buy and sell signals or to confirm overbought or oversold areas.

I normally set the RSI at 14 and when it reads over 70 and price is at or pushing through the upper band then I know we are overbought and ready for a reversal. I will either start thinking about shorting the market or if I am already in a long position will start to cover.

When the RSI reads below 30 and price is touching or pushing through the lower band then I know we are oversold and I will either consider buying the market or close existing short positions.

Experiment with the settings until you find the right parameters for the market you are trading. I have found the bands to be effective on all time frames from 5 minutes to monthly bars.

Make Money Online With Targeted Traffic
Wednesday 28 May 2008 @ 12:53 pm

More and more people in today’s world use the Internet as a tool to get or sell product, service or information. The trend is that most of them use keywords search. Google holds the half market of keywords search. To be indexed and ranked high in search engine, you have the potential opportunities to make money online with targeted traffic.
Targeted traffic for your website is as vital as knowing how to survive. The information which surfers are looking for is usually available on thousands of websites, so you have to make sure you are extremely excellent to beat your competitors. Keeping your website high in the search engine rankings, you can continue to get targeted traffic for making money online.
Why targeted traffic is so important for you to make money online? How to make money online with targeted traffic?
We can list two possibilities for our purchase: use search engine or go familiar websites. Based on psychology, we know using search engine has strong incentive meaning: the behavior has high possibility to be an action. So the first website or first several websites which related to your item will have advantage to target you as their customer. You may compare others or delay your purchase. But undoubtedly, they will give you a deep impression. The second choice is that you will go those familiar websites, like eBay, Amazon to look for. This is also targeted traffic. Other ways still are effective, but not efficient.
Search engines are sophisticated enough to allow users to quickly find relevant websites by searching for a simple word or phrase. Sites that provide useful content will bring back targeted traffic. Meanwhile, search engines reward these sites to give them a high ranking and more exposure to targeted traffic. The more targeted traffic comes, the more likely you will make money online.
To mention targeted traffic, you should know the term of search engine optimization. The search engine optimization is not only the skills but also is your efforts. The more relevant keywords you use in your website, the more likely you get the targeted traffic that visitors will find your site when they conduct a search. Search engine optimization will increase your page rank and give you a chance to make money online with those targeted traffic.

Pay per click advertising is another way within the search to give you the targeted traffic. Compare to nature search, sometimes it is expensive, especially for those hot keywords. But it is direct way to know how your business does. What you get are all of targeted traffic. Google AdWords is the best way to make money online with targeted traffic.
Getting other web pages to link to your website is very important for you to make money online with targeted traffic. This is nature and not to pay. The excellent way to generate no cost targeted traffic is by submitting articles to article directories or newsletter publishers with your “resource box” attached. The important thing to remember is that you have your back link in your resource box and contain most relevant keywords there.
Search engine optimization, pay per click advertising and link popularity are three key ways for you to increase your targeted traffic and make money online with targeted traffic. By implementing these suggestions on your online business, you will quickly realize that the more targeted traffic, the more sales you get. In fact, the content can do more to expand your online business and let you make more money online with targeted traffic.

How to choose a good graphic design course
Wednesday 28 May 2008 @ 12:04 pm

Educational degree programs available in graphic design are of many types such as graduate and bachelor degree programs in graphic design, associate degree programs, and certificate programs and there are some benefits and drawbacks to all of these programs. The right one is the one that suits your career goals and meets your specific needs. In order to assist you in making the best decision as to what program will work the best for you, several features of the associate and bachelor’s degree are compared in this article.

Professional level: The heartbreaking truth is, that where professional status is concerned, there is often a negative undertone that goes along with “only” having an associate degree. Companies sometimes believe that anyone who didn’t get a four-year degree is not as smart or as skilled as someone who did get a four-year degree. Although it is not a true concept, it tends to be frequent. If you are up against someone with a bachelor’s degree, and you have an associate’s degree, you are much less likely to be the one the boss picks. If all other factors are the same, the person with the most education will get the job or project above you.

Career course: With the possession of an associate degree, you’ll be a step ahead in reaching your career goals, and you will be able to apply and qualify for the same positions that candidates with bachelor’s degrees will be pursuing.

Cost: It does not cost as much to get an associate degree as it does to get a bachelor’s degree since it takes only half the amount of time to obtain.

No matter what you choose you will be advancing into a new exciting career that grows as technology improves.

A new Web Marketing ROI Calculator - Part 1
Wednesday 28 May 2008 @ 11:14 am

In the beginning, search engine marketers were only
concerned about top 10 rankings. Do you remember those
days? Then, as things progressed and we began to work
“smarter,” we began to take note of how those top 10’s were
actually converting to traffic and sales.

After all, in any marketing campaign, the true bottom line
should be your ROI, the return on your investment. That’s
how you’ll know if your marketing efforts are really
working, or if you need to go back to the drawing board and
try something new.

Recently, I was introduced to a new ROI calculating service
called KeywordTool. It covers both pay-per-click engines
and regular engine results.

To write the article, I interviewed Chris Genge of
KeywordTool (http://www.keywordtool.net), and he took me on
a tour of the service itself.

Question:
Please explain what KeywordTool is and what it really does.

Chris:
“Deciding which keywords best suit each Web site and
which ones specifically will generate
sales/conversions is perhaps the toughest job in SEO.
Tools like Word Tracker are a great help in narrowing
down keyword selection, but then what?

“In the past, decisions were not based on facts but
mostly speculation. This gave people no alternative
but to promote or bid on larger keyword groups. We
used a shotgun approach in hopes of increasing sales,
with no way of telling which keywords were adding to
our bottom line!

“A common saying in advertising is: `In any good
campaign, 50% of all advertising dollars are wasted,
but which 50%?’ KeywordTool can answer this question
for keyword promotion campaigns.

“KeywordTool’s tracking service tracks the conversion
or sales performance of keywords on search and pay-
per-click engines, showing which keyword phrases are
actually converting into customers and from which
search engines. It is not a visitor tracker; instead,
it determines keyword performance.

“With this keyword referral/conversion rate
information, one can then fine tune their keyword
choices and streamline promotion and bidding expenses
to increase efficiency, sales, and profits, or in
other words…the bottom line.

“KeywordTool is an online service that gathers
information about your Web site referrals and
sales/conversions. Using your private user name and
password, you can then access the stats so you can
review the information and make informed decisions
about how to continue your online promotion.

“KeywordTool is designed for use with SEO and Pay-Per-
Click (PPC) campaigns. It’s well suited for both.”

Question:
Is there a way that we can see a demo of how the service
really works?

Chris:
“Go to http://www.keywordtool.net At the top of the
page, you will see the log in. Use the username of
“keywordtool” and password of “demo” to access the
demo.

“The first page is the list of search engines that
have sent referrals to the specific Web site you wish
to have monitored. Only search engines that have sent
a referral will appear on the listed sites. New search
engines will appear as referrals are sent.

“The `Create details’ or `Edit details’ in the first
column is where you would click to configure your
search engine settings. This is where you tell
KeywordTool what your average cost per click is for
each search engine you want to calculate. This can be
filled out after some data has been gathered.

“The search engine column is the list of only those
search engines that have referred visitors to your Web
site. You will notice that KeywordTool will also
differentiate between regions for those search engines
that are regionalized.

“The Column marked “Clicks” tells you the total number
of referrals sent by each SE.

“PPC is the average price per click you have set for
yourself. For those using this for SEO, this can be
left blank. The PPC can be changed or added at any
time, allowing you to re-calculate your PPC using new
information.

“CONV is the number of conversions you have received
from that particular search engine. The details about
the number of conversions are at the next level.

“You can define what a conversion is:

-A “SALE”
-A subscription
-Downloading a file
-Filling out a form
-Or anything you consider to be an acquisition

“The CONV% is where KeywordTool calculates the
percentage of conversions based on the number of
referrals received from that search engine. It’s
really just a performance guide of the search engine
for the keywords you have listings for.

“PPA is the `price per acquisition.’ It tells you how
much each new customer costs you for that particular
search engine. The number indicated is rounded to the
closest dollar.

“ROI is your potential return on investment. It’s
based on the information provided and the referrals
and conversion rates recorded.

“Some of the rows don’t have information, because we
haven’t defined the cost per click or estimated profit
on that particular search engine. This can be added or
updated at any time.

“Start the next section by clicking on the column
marked `Clicks’ to sort the SE’s from highest
referrals to lowest. Yahoo US has the highest number
of referrals, so it comes to the top of the list.

“Click on `Yahoo.US.’ It will then take you to the
next screen where there are 2 sections marked `search
words’ and `categories.’ Search words are referrals
from SE’, and categories are from directories. Yahoo
displays both so KeywordTool separates the results.

“Click on `Search Words.’ The next screen will display
the exact results and performance for each keyword
phrase. Click on CONV to sort to the highest
conversion keywords in this section. This is the
section where you can start seeing which keywords are
working well for you and which ones are not.

“The keywords that work well are ones that you can
focus on to ensure they are also listed on the other
search engines. You can quickly see which of your
initial chosen keywords are working well and which you
might want to consider dropping or reviewing. You can
then work to get improved listings on other search
engines for a small select group of keywords that you
are confident will give you the highest ROI. The
numbers provided in KeywordTool’s reports could be
used to make better, informed decisions.

“If a keyword phrase is not working well, it might
either be the wrong keyword for the product offered or
the sales presentation is not working well on that
page. Knowing that this keyword is not working well,
you can then start to make changes to improve
performance. For anyone who has tried tweaking your
Google AdWords Select based on your copy and click
performance, this works in much the same way. With
KeywordTool, it’s fairly easy to know which keyword
phrases to work on and which ones are working well for
you already.

“The information KeywordTool provides will tell you
how much potential a keyword phrase has, allowing you
to know how much to invest in SEO or PPC.

“All the information in KeywordTool sections can be
exported to Excel easily so you can manipulate the
